Do you use disposable tableware?

I find disposable tableware really useful specially for big gatherings at home. We don't have a maid and a dishwasher at home so obviously, the burden of getting the dishes done is all on me. It's not easy as hosting a gathering means everything is your responsibility. The dishes you serve, the table setting, the decorations, etc. There's a lot to prepare and you will need to exert an amount of effort to have a good start and a wonderful end. It's seriously tiring. This is the top reason why, sometimes, we sort out with simply eating out. It's rather favorable since we won't need to allocate time for each and every responsibility of being the host.

Disposable tableware is affordable and easy to get rid of. Although some selection don't look suitable and doesn't match for the occasion, I still wouldn't mind. I'd rather take my time looking for the selection I prefer for the occasion than opting with other type of tableware that is not disposable. I still use tableware that is not disposable but only for small gatherings with just the majority of the family present, otherwise, I'd choose disposable ones. It's because they are hassle-free to use! Very convenient.

It's untimely to talk about gatherings when all of us are prohibited to attend and conduct as such during these times but I assume I am not the only one who miss the fun of it. For me, the most precious are family gatherings that's why I'm hoping that one day, this annihilating issue that the world is facing right at this moment will soon ease, more preferably, cease because we can't just remain reminiscing the freedom we had before. The situation we are in possesses quite an interesting irony, how can something unseen by the naked eye inflict such an enormous disaster? Life is indeed unpredictable.

Using disposable tableware is very convenient especially if you are catering a massive group of people but on the other hand it is somewhat not eco-friendly cause we are adding tons of trash and not all disposable materials are biodegradable ... Rispondi

Yap it’s good for today situation. Pandemic time is the time to make extra effort eg: like gathering extra careful for every utensil we use. And disposable table ware is advise. Rispondi

I just use disposable plates if I am serving more than 20 guests or if the party is outdoors. During parties my family prefer to use disposable chopsticks instead of plastic spoons and forks as they tend to break easily. It's not a problem since we bring separate utensils for kids who don't know how to use chopsticks yet. Rispondi

We don't use disposable plates and utensils at home, but I agree that they're practical for parties/gatherings, especially if you don't have household help. I use paper plates sometimes when I give food to my neighbors. Pre-Covid, I remember I always wished for food that's quick and easy to eat at parties with disposable tableware because plastic forks and knives always break when I use them to cut meat. Hahaha!
