I love cooking!! It's been many years since I began cooking.
I am cooking on a regular basis.
When I was a beginner, I always used to get confused with how much salt is to be added as most recipes stated salt as per taste and how long should I cook the rice for it to be perfectly cooked..

I learnt a lot with time & experimentation and it has definitely given me a lot of confidence. If you are a beginner and you want to cook then you can follow some of the tips given below. I hope it helps you :):)

*Add a little less salt than what you think is appropriate and taste your food before serving. This helps you in understanding exactly how much salt needs to be added and also avoids addition of extra salt and of course ruining the meal.

*Do not cook on high flame as it will render a slight burnt taste in the food.

*Cook on low flame as it gives you enough time to add the spices & salt and it also renders the best taste.

*Use measuring cups and spoons while adding ingredients to your food. This way you can never go wrong with a recipe.

*Always wash the vegetables thoroughly before adding them to the cooker/pan.

*Soak rice/beans for a minimum of 15 minutes before using it as this reduces the cooking time and also takes the unwanted starch out of the grain.

*Put a damp paper towel under your cutting board.

*Set your timer for a few minutes less than the called for time.

Have been cooking since I was kid, mostly self taught or observed my elders as was much older than my sibblings and was kind of a mother to them ... they were good to practice on as ate anything I cooked or they were so hungry that it didn't matter!!! Rispondi
